I don't fancy myself an academic nor an Excel guru. I just happen to really like Excel and use it for virtually almost anything.

comment Excel: how to permanently apply conditional formatting to the whole spreadsheet?
Applying a format or conditional formatting rule to the entire spreadsheet may bog your spreadsheet down. Use dynamic named ranges instead (see Excell's answer).

comment Referencing the sheet name is not working
To isolate which part of your formula is causing the error, try typing "=CELL("filename", A1)" into another cell.

comment At exporting table to excel, double numbers are changed as date type
Best practice is to NEVER open CSV files in Excel. You can either import data in the file, or force Excel to go through the Text Import wizard by changing the file extension to TXT.

comment In Excel, how to find the value after decimal and replace entire cell with this new value?
So you wish to round up only values that contain 99, 88 or 77 at the end?

comment Find last row in sorted table for matched value
@Moses Yep, just enter it in the first cell under Last_Match_Date (using Ctrl+Shift+Enter) then copy it down to the other cells. You were getting the error because you replaced A2 (or the lookup value) with another array not parallel to the arrays in the formula.

comment How to conditionally create a hyperlink based on value of a cell
@gm2 I think you're misunderstanding the OP's question. Excel is creating a "phantom" hyperlink even if you don't mean to.

@Dane So far, at least with Evernote, you're going to have to drop/reattach the file every time you want to make changes.

comment Keyboard Shortcut to Fit Column Width to Text in Mac Excel?
I don't have my Macbook with me so I can't confirm if this is possible, but have you tried assigning a custom keyboard shortcut to it? I believe Autofit Column Width should be under Format.

comment Excel formula for finding the position of value
@fox I'm not sure what you mean. Can you provide a screenshot? If you're dealing with non-contiguous cells, you can create a named range.

comment convert a table of 3 columns of {x, y, value} to the matrix table
It does work & I can't imagine how you could fail to make it. However, you're probably running an older version of Excel. IFERROR only works in MS Excel 2007 & above.

comment Excel CSV import treating quoted strings of numbers as numeric values, not strings
There is another way, but I don't know if it's possible in your case: have the web app export to comma-delimited .TXT instead of .CSV (or just change the file extension of the exported file). This sort of "forces" users to go through the import wizard when they open the file.

I can't seem to duplicate this problem. What XL version are you running? Do dates and times appear different too?

comment How do I split a number into decimal and fractionary in Excel?
+1 But there seems to be problem with negative numbers though. =MOD(-8.74, 1) returns 0.26. Changing the 2nd argument to -1 (at least when dealing with negative values) should be able to fix it.

comment Sumproduct fails when range is only 1 row and part of the calculation is blank
It's not a bug; it's how SUMPRODUCT works. The function requires that its arguments refer to range(s) have the same "dimensions." If the 2nd argument refers to an empty cell, the function is supposed to show an error. Empty cells are different from cells that have text, '0' and spaces, and are considered null.

@user200507 To quote the OP, "I want a command line option, or a batch processing option for this." I stand by Imagemagick as being the best at this.
