comment Is it recommend to use Windows XP System Restore?
Yeah, it's saved my butt from a bad driver more than once. :)

What kind of beep? A "system" beep? (motherboard speaker) Is it only when you're doing something specific?

comment Officially announced RAM support size doesn't apply to one of twin rigs with just one difference
What power supplies are you using? Some boards are not compatible with high-efficiency power supplies, and will behave oddly as a result.

comment Windows 7, weird/annoying explorer problem
Are you running as a standard user, or administrator? Where are you trying to create/delete these folders? I'm not familiar with BitDefender (we use Forefront) but this has not ever happened to me on 3 different Windows 7 x64 machines. (home premium, business, ultimate)

comment Windows 7, weird/annoying explorer problem
On a related note, on at least two occasions I have unintentionally deleted a folder because I clicked a file or subfolder in the right-hand pane but Explorer was still "active" on the folder in the left-hand pane. :[ Thank Bill for the recycle bin...

comment Ubuntu program most compatible with Microsoft Office?
Also, StarOffice is a commercial version of OpenOffice, and they offer additional utilities and support that may improve the experience. (Never used it, but I do use OpenOffice and have been very happy with it...) Since it's a commercial product it might bypass some FLOSS-haters, and at $35 it's a much better value prop...

comment How can I easily switch between computers on a home network?
Though I think the "Remote Assistance" feature of Windows/RDP does allow a shared session.

comment PC runs very slowly for no apparent reason
I was running AV (Microsoft OneCare) until well after the performance problems started, so I'm reasonably sure it's not a virus.
