comment Multiple Windows installers on a USB stick
Never tried it myself, but basically the boot manager on the setup DVD isn't any different from a normal HDD installation, so you should be able to use tools such as BCDEdit to create a "dual boot" setup.

comment Multiple Windows installers on a USB stick
WRT Windows installers: Why do you need multiple bootloaders? It should be possible to modify its entries to be able to start both installers from the same partition using the newer version (i.e. the Windows 8 one)?

comment How do I edit/append metadata to files in Windows Explorer?
You only see editable metadata if Windows Explorer knows how to edit the files (i.e. has a shell extension for the file). That metadata is stored inside the files, not outside in the file system.

comment Remove a merge/commit in git
It's not 100% clear to me what you want to do. Do you want to undo the merge commit or do you just want to remove the now obsolete branch?

comment Remove a merge/commit in git
Sounds to me like undoing the merge might be the cleaner solution, the branch still exists anyway?

comment Can a Raspberry Pi be reconfigured to reboot automatically if the SDcard becomes unreadable?
I'd suggest trying to identify the problem before trying to circumvent it. For example, swap the SD card if possible. If that doesn't work and it only happens if it's running for more than a day, how about rebooting once a day during off-hours? Like a daily maintenance.

comment Merge two text files, with differences highlighted
Just reword your question, e.g. you could say something like "If you're under Windows and you only want some visualization for yourself (no files to be saved), then you might want to have a look at WinMerge." Also remember that talking links are always better, not just for SEO, but for readers as well. :)

comment How to remove topic torch from my computer?
Just look for any other entries that got installed recently (around the time you noticed the banners popping up). Some installers will run delayed to make sure users don't kill the task in case they notice that they forgot to untick something.

@magicandre1981 An ad blocker is no solution here. You might be able to hide the symtpoms but not the cause.

comment How to remove this symbol “^@” with vim?
See rpyzh's answer further down below. Shows loading the file using the proper encoding as well as saving it with a different one (although the answer could need some more explanation). Jrb's last note is enough if you just want to read it, but not if you want to have it saved without the null bytes using another encoding.

comment Windows 8 registration with wrong email
And just to add, even if they'd used the wrong email, e.g. your own email, they could just add a second user account, use the correct email, and then delete the initial account. There's no DRM involved that binds the installation to be used by any specific account. Only the opposite: You can use apps on your account on up to x different computers.

comment How to remove this symbol “^@” with vim?
Just stumbled upon this question/answer through a related link: This is actually a bad advice and will only work properly in very few cases. It's better to actually change the encoding rather than removing null bytes. If you remove the null bytes, you might still have other multibyte characters that show up as garbage.

And that's exactly the issue desribed above - the goal is to automate that part.

comment Paranoid Parent: “WiFi safe for baby?”
A sun burn isn't caused by heat (alone). It's primarily caused by UV rays. Both (sunburns and melanomas) are in the end caused by overexposure of sun radiation (infrared (heat) and ultraviolet rays). Also I'd consider it important that there are tons of things causing far higher amounts of radiation in your typically household, like mobile phones (during connection attempts) or DECT phones. WiFi is really on the low end of radiation stuff.

Regarding point 2): You do not have to disable the social connector to get rid of the social bar. You can just disable it using its button on the View ribbon.

Keep in mind that SO isn't "do the work for me", but in case you run into problems, you could ask a question there and then link this mention as reference (plus update/edit this question with any related stuff you're asking).

@MAKZ That's true, but Word doesn't know how to "skip" the timing lines. It can/will ignore them, but it won't be able to link multiple segments into one sentence. This will, however, only diminish some basic grammar checks, not the overall spell checking functionality.

I think you should try to reword the question a bit, like "How can I use spell check on sentences spaning multiple subtitle lines" or something similar. Just to avoid being disambiguous.
