comment How to boot from 3TB HDD?
Windows 8 supports both UEFI and BIOS - that's no save way to determine whether a system is an UEFI system.

Very odd, and this is a permanent issue, even if you try to reload the page several times? Also are you trying to open the http or the https version of Github?

But your PC's clock is set properly? For example, right now it should be 8:33 AM on the 28th July, if you set your time zone to UTC/GMT (without DST).

comment Make files which starts with a dote visible for every user
You might not be able to do so, but as said, this really depends on the FTP client. For example, I'm using WinSCP and it shows me files such as .htaccess just fine (but greyed out). I remember Windows Explorer not doing that when viewing an FTP server. A tiny "hack" for single dotted files: Upload a file with the same name and delete it immediately. This will work in some clients (like Windows Explorer), but I'm aware that this is no solution for the long run.

comment Adding extra left margin in pdf print without using Acrobat Pro
So you want to have the margins embedded into the file? Then yes, the second option is one way to go, but I'm not too deep into that topic either. :)

comment Taskbar icon not changing when new mail arrives
It seems to bug out in general. For example, if I receive a new mail, click the sidebar on the mail entry to mark it as read (since I know the contents), the taskbar icon won't change (keeps the envelope icon). I have to open and close at least one of the new mails to update it.

Did you pick the wrong tag or are you somehow still using the preview of Windows 8.1?

Which browser are you using? This sounds like some too strict security setting.

Weird, did you try installing the drivers manually? Maybe some driver issue - otherwise no idea right now.

"If I remember correctly". :) Do you see other shared ressources like folders? Or nothing at all? Later case, you might have different workgroups set?

Is the printer marked as shared on the network (on the print server)? By default, you don't share printers IIRC.

comment Cloning my 1 TB HD to my 250 GB SSD
Do you have access to a desktop system to clone the drive there? Also is it possible that there's some hard disk encryption going on?

First of all, ignore that disc with Norton Ghost. Don't even install it. If you use it to clone a disc, it might try to rewrite the source disk's boot information to create a dual-boot configuration (yuck!), which might even screw up your original installation (which it did in my case).

comment Why do printers (e.g. Epson R3000) need to switch between black inks instead of using them in parallel?
Oh, interesting. So it's everything in a single big head "module"? I guess they don't want one head being idle/unused for extended periods of time.

Ah ok, then I misunderstood you.

Ah, so the tab pips, border markers, etc.? You should remove your suggestions from your initial post and put them in a separate answer.

comment Accessing SVN Repository on CIFS (Samba) share
You should edit/update your initial question so people immediately see the current issue. Are you really sure the permissions are correct now? Even for the (typically hidden) .svn directory?

comment How to download a file through a server that blocked http and ftp
@barlop I don't really remember, but I think it's been due to the possibility of rehosting/mirroring the file using a third party service; some of which allow only images or small files for example.
