comment How can I make Skype love my X230's microphone?
Update, the latest version of the drivers have several options that may need to be twiddled based on software in use. On my system Skype wants a certain set of them, and Bria a totally different set.

comment Why's Windows keep losing my storage device on reboot?
Also seems to work fine when the HDC is in a 4x/16x slot too. Just those pesky 1x slots that cause the problems.

This does not work. It also does a fast reboot (no self-test run/no option ROMs loaded).

comment Is it okay for a new laptop battery to report 90% capacity?
Yes, in order to extend the useful lifetime of the battery, it may only charge into the 90% charged range.

comment MBR/Boot sector wiping virus/trojan?
I didn't bother to repair the MBR. He only uses it for web surfing and checking e-mail, so data loss isn't a concern. I wiped the drive with the Adaptec firmware then built new partitions and reinstalled. I've never heard of "DropMyRights" before. I'll have to go check it out.

comment Change /etc/, /var/ permissions to 777
I was operating under the belief that root wouldn't login from console due to /etc/passwd being 777, rather than it being disabled. I'm not familiar with CentOS specifically anymore.

From the original question, I don't believe that console access will work either.
