@BrunoFinger If you're selling the machine on something like Ebay where you are rated, it may be best to go the extra mile and install the drivers. Also, you never know when word of mouth may help you sell more stuff. Goodwill is hard to buy and if you can get it with 15 minutes of your time, it may be well worth it.

Can you open webpages in lynx or links? (I ask because pacman and links/lynx use HTTP, whereas SSH and ping do not.)

comment Does copying files in multiple dialogues slower than in one?
Another thing to consider is, are you copying a bunch of smaller files or a bunch of larger files. Copying smaller files is inherently slower on most operating systems than copying larger files. For example, if I copy 5GB worth of 20MB/each images, it will usually be much slower than copying a single 5GB movie. In my experience, parallel copying of large files is nearly as fast as doing two separate copy operations serially, whereas a bunch of smaller files being copied in parallel is MUCH slower.

@Ramhound My domain account is in the local Administrators group on each machine, so I have local admin rights.

@Ramhound I mean admin rights on all the machines in that lab.

comment Why does Microsoft Office installation allocate 1.5GB disk space even if I don't select any of its products?
@Kruug Beyond Microsoft being conservative, the other parts of the above-mentioned article states: "Office-wide Ribbon implementation. In Office 2010, you’ll see the Ribbon in all Office applications. " Some of the actual (and not over-estimated) bulk of Office 2010 comes from the shared components (which includes the suite-wide Ribbon elements).
