IE8 will not load certain sites Sorry I was confusing with my language there. I mean that a non corporate (actually corporate for a different place) machine works fine. But the build we have on these machines simply does not work. The website is an internet site so not a local one and windows xp with ie 7 (on other machines obviously) work fine proving the proxy is good. THanks |

Getting Windows Media Player to play at startup I think you will struggle, as often in the case of the above where its a windows update shutdown, the shutdown won't necessarily be clean and therefore won't necessarily save the playlist. |

kicking / logging out remote windows users? That would mean you were on the machine in question. What if you want to connect to a machine that is full already :) |

What is Gnome / KDE etc? I prefer the following analogy: Windows is like shaving with a Gillette Razer. Prettty safe, easy to use and produces good results Linux is like using an old cut-throat straight razer. Dangerous in the wrong hands, some skill / knowledge needed, results in a great shave Mac is like shaving with a bowling pin.... |

How to tell if a laptop has been used of off the normal network Let me clarify. The laptops are for people to take where ever they want to take. Due to policy, and for reasons I wont go into, they can pretty much take them anywhere and plug them into anything. That aspect of things is not the problem. I want to replace laptops that never leave the desk with desktops. |

How to tell if a laptop has been used of off the normal network They do run login scripts upon network logon so I can(and do) record that, but to compare to each machines event logs - would be dificult - unless you can suggest a way? |

Degragmenting before partitioning a hard drive? I am just curious as to why you would need to partition a user machine nowadays? |

Looking for a website with temporary email addresses Actually not as bad a comment as it sounds - I use my own domains proxy to access stuff that is blocked by my work network, so not a bad idea!. |
