I like learning about data structures, object models and design patterns. My goal is to apply these such a way as to render the seemingly-ordinary extraordinarily. I enjoy seeing how other people do the same.
I live and work in New York and Maryland. I spend most of my time with Python and GNU/Linux.

DLL could not be run for MSI installers Yeah, that makes more sense than giving the permission to Everyone :-). Anyway, I wonder what the underlying cause of this problem may be. I was having trouble with several installers, including the iTunes installer—a very popular installer! I wonder what happened that broke permissions on that directory. |

SCP recursive transfer order How could such an approach be extended to transfer files individually instead of in an archive? Would a loop iterating over results from sort in the bar remote command somehow accomplish this? |

SCP recursive transfer order Woah, great lower-level approach and presenting the broader picture so clearly. Thank you. |

dpkg -S not showing all files in package Yes, it appears the correct switch is -L. Yikes. Thank you! |

dpkg -S not showing all files in package Yeah, I have have been confused by the man entry. So, when -S appears to be listing package contents, it's really just listing files in packages that match the path-spec I'm providing? |

Bash path glob matching dotfiles and parent in pwd Thanks. Then, how might I change ownership/permissions on all the files and directories in a homedir recursively, without recursing into ... I mean, /* also matches /... So do you know how can I not pick up ..? |
