Yeah, I figured that was directed towards ISP blocking, but that is why like your first suggestion better. Also, I might add to the email client suggestion that I'm really liking cone.

That's a good tip about the gmail smarthost on port 587. However, some people may still run in to a problem on networks that only allow outbound traffic on certain ports (some company networks do this). I like the first suggestion for keeping it local, but I would recommend alpine instead of mutt. Mutt has a much much steeper learning curve than alpine.

comment What is the difference between a kibibyte, a kilobit, and a kilobyte?
Might also be aware that the lowercase "b" is sometimes used incorrectly to abbreviate "bytes". I see a lot of places just use "bit" in the abreviation such at MB for megabyte and Mbit for megabit and stay away from "b" altogether.

It's even funnier to say when talking about bits - "mibibit"

@paradroid: gigabyte originally meant 1024 mb (and mb = 1024 kb, etc). It was retconned to mean 1000 because HDD manufactures insisted on using it wrong. Admittedly, this does depend on what you consider "right" since kilo does mean 1000, but within computer science, kilobyte was always 1024 for technical reasons until it was changed in 1999.
