comment How to block a program from using IPv4?
@MichaelHampton i want disallow certain programs from using IPv4. The corollary is that other programs i want to (continue) to be allowed to use IPv4. In the case of WoW i want it to only use the faster IPv6 connection. In the case of Flash i want to defeat geolocation. In the case of uTorrent i want to unlink my torrenting from my IPv4 address. In the case of Flash i want to be unblocked because i am in Canada. In the case of Steam i want to test IPv6-only connectivity. In the case of Visual Studio i want to test IPv6 connectivity. i am trying to block programs from using IPv4.

comment How to use BCDEdit to dual boot Windows installations?
i understand BCD wraps a very powerful system, with a lot of complex options. On the other hand, i think i have a very simple question, that a lot of people have asked over the years - but never been able to get solved. "i have Windows over here, and another Windows over there. How do i boot between them?". Rather than a full tutorial on all the options of BCDEdit, i was hoping for the commands that can only solve this one (seemingly simple) problem. Perhaps almost something as simple as msconfig, except it lets you browse to another Windows install and it will add it for you.

comment Windows 8 Upgrade: How to keep everything and keep nothing?
Fortunately, in a dual-boot situation, it is impossible for me to use Windows 8 and the previous version of Windows i had before at the same time.

comment Windows 8 Upgrade: How to keep everything and keep nothing?
@avirk Actually, the entire question was a subtle dig at the Windows 8 installer UI. Windows 7 would ask you where you wanted to install Windows first, then ask what kind of installation you wanted. Fortunately the W8 "quirky" user interface can be worked around.

comment Windows 8 Upgrade: How to keep everything and keep nothing?
My "solution" was to re-install Windows overtop itself. It seems extraordinarily likely that the MediaBootInstall trick would have done it.

@TFM Partially because i was hoping for an answer, but mainly because it doesn't help me decide.

Not when you're in Canada; there are a host of issues. It gets even worse if you're in other countries where people won't ship to.

+1 for "correct their application" and using the AppCompat toolkit to fix their bugs for them.

comment How to tell Windows 7 that an application does not need to run with admin rights?
@MichaelSlade When you check options on a program's property's Compatibility tab. Those settings are saved in the registry AppCompatFlags key

So instead some mean-spirited person comes along and closes the question. What a dick.

@Synetech Ohh, i thought you just wanted something that had the capabilities to draw like what you found in the Android SDK - and Visio just wasn't cutting it.

comment How to block a program from using IPv4?
@Ramhound None; as far as i know Windows only has the one. And i can't do it at the firewall level, because i only want to block one application.

comment How can I make localhost resolve to 127.0.0.1 instead of ::1?
This is similar to the bug in Visual Studio's built-in Cassini web-server: it refuses to listen on ::1. As a result: it is, by default, unusable. Hopefully MySql is capable of binding to IPv6.

comment Dual monitors on Windows - How do I set a different DPI or text size on each monitor?
@ChrisSmith Problem with using DWM to scale window contents is that text becomes fuzzy and hard to read. And i hate the fuzzies.

comment How to add Color Scheme to Windows Vista/7/Server 2008/Server 2008 R2?
You can use color schemes to modify UI sizes. You just have to customize the active scheme; you cannot save schemes.

comment Is there a fix to display 0 when arithmetic underflow occurs on the Windows 7 calculator?
i still get -8.1648465955514287168521180122928e-39 (calculator version 6.1.7600.16385). You can paste 4 @ - 2 = into Calculator to easily repeat the test.
