First you need to read the error message, then follow the instructions: Run as root (prefix the command you're running with sudo).

comment GitHub: typical repository sizes?
What format is your doucmentation. Git is really well suited to track text files, but doesn't handle binary files that change often very well.

comment Why does my Linksys WRT54G have three MAC addresses?
Really I'm just guessing based on your descriptions there is no standard labeling. You could use ARP. Connect to the router admin via WiFi, then run arp -a and the WLAN MAC will be with 192.168.1.1. Then disable wireless and connect via wired Ethernet and repeat to get the LAN MAC.

The MAC displayed near the IP 192.168.1.1 is likely the LAN whereas the one on the bottom is probably the WAN.

@Tim, ifconfig outputs the details of the network interfaces on the machine it is run on. So if it is run on your computer, the HWaddr is of your computer's network interface.

OK... hold on. Where are you running ifconfig and iwconfig, on the router or your computer (I originally assumed the router, but I'm now thinking not)? Those commands will show the details for the machine they're running on. The "Access Point" field in the output of iwconfig is the MAC of the Access Point/Router the machine is connected to. And "HWaddr" is the MAC address.

@Tim, Everything shown is from the router. If you want to see MAC addresses of your computer(s) from the router, try running arp -a

comment Which device can create a new network?
A network is a higher level concept that is larger than just TCP/IP. I think the concept Any time you connect machines together, it doesn't matter the devices or protocols used, you're creating a network.

comment Hosting my website from home
Agree with Big Chris, separate subnets, but no reason to put the server in a DMZ with all the ports wide open. Just port forward 80 on the router to the server.

I don't know which application you're talking about, but 7-Zip can do that.

@Priyanka, please don't take downvotes as any offense against you, but they are a signal that your question could be improved. The help section on this site is good resource on writing good questions. You've done a pretty good job of explaining your situation, but the language you used is not very clear (lots of shortened words, no capitalization). You also mention Ad-Block, but claim it is not enough, can you elaborate why? Perhaps edit your question to correct these pitfalls.

That is going to be specific to the platform you're using to host your website.
