watch might be good there, if you are watching the screen all of the time

comment How can I move RAID 1 hard drives from one enclosure to another or retrieve the data another way?
This is why I use software raid. You have full control over what is going on, can directly validate the health of the individual drives (SMART—enclosures often do not support this or lie) and can perform verification and data scrubbing to validate that the drives are good copies of each other. You can also break apart and recreate the arrays to repartition or recreate the filesystems without booting to an install/rescue partition. Hosts are generally faster at computing checksums except for the very high end systems.

comment How run sudo -s after ssh login
Also note that if sudo -s breaks for any reason, you are locked out of the machine—at least in interactive mode. If you remember what is going on you can do a non-interactive ssh in to fix things.

comment How do I set what should happen in terminal on a certain command?
RiMMER: Hmm. Your terminal must not be giving you a login shell, which is a bit strange. You can put it in .bashrc then, which will be used for all interactive shells.

comment Would it be worth it to virtualize an entire home network?
I'd certainly love to be able to turn everything into a thin client, but games and video are the sticking point.
