AKA RSoul.

I love R but hate the unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics!

Thanks. Good luck is most definitely needed! But I think that's a discussion best suited to academia.stackexchange.com

Thinking about it, what is a new line? Since I am writing in Latex, aren't all paragraphs just one long line? Paragraphs are denoted by leaving a blank line. In that case none of the words should hang over the line as in your example. But then again I am more of a latex person than a grep person. I am a fellow archer though...thanks for the further input.

It certainly fulfils the first part of my requirements, as I now have frequency information for all words (hyphenated or not) in my document. It is not clear how to find the same information for the nonhyphenated versions. For example: fear = 89. spider-fear = 93. spider = 114. Not all spider and fear are unhyphenated version of spider-fear.

That's interesting. I already use texcount for wordcount, but didn't realise it could give me frequency information.

comment In the event of power loss how will the master UPS communicate shutdown to the slave over LAN?
This was solved. I am happy for the question to be deleted. FTR I use apcupsd and have the network switch on the UPS. Now all the computers can shutdown when the power is out. Excellent.

Not really in a position to test this moment, but will try pulling out a few cords latter. As for running the switch box off the UPS, I did think of that, but they are power lead incompatible....

In my defence I have killa flu. Will give it a go. Just out of curiosity. I have 18gb of txt files. Any way of doing it without a temp file? Thanks.
