comment Missing MSVCP70.dll
You usually end up running into the missing DLL on 64bit versions of windows. Usually 32bit will run the application fine.

icmp is part of the networking stack so you don't need a service.

I assume you mean "desktop environment" instead. Almost all the distributions use Xorg.

Erm. I don't think the speed of the memory changes because it goes over the OS' limits.

comment How to do a secure erase on a Macbook Pro?
You don't have to use the OSX install disk to erase the drive, but it is a nice option. Also doing the 7 and 35 pass erase on an SSD is probably a bad idea due to the limited write lifespan.

comment Ethernet to Wifi broadcasting
Might not work if you try to connect 2 machines to the ISPs modem. Most will only allocate 1 IP address for you.

comment Can I mix 1GB and 2GB sticks of ram in the same machine?
Some motherboards are more finicky with ram then others. I had a motherboard that refused a second 2GB set from the same manufacturer.

comment How do I use the terminal to log into another mac?
Problem with scp is it always has to retransfer the files if they already exist. Rsync is efficient and fast.

ssh allows you to execute commands on the remote machine. cp and the like do not understand how to talk over ssh. Rsync will probably offer close to optimal performance, especially since it diffs the files rather then replacing them outright. Rsync is a little confusing to configure but rocks once it gets going. This seems like a decent guide.

Honestly if you are going to connect like that you are better off using ssh+sftp, scp, rsync or another protocol as it will be easier IMO.

Where destination is where you want the remote filesystem mounted at
