How do I see/change the IRQ(L) of my device? No, the IRQ is a number indicating which interupt line the device is connected to. The IRQL is a number maintained by the OS which controls which interupts are allowed to interupt which other interupts. There is more information here ext2fsd.sourceforge.net/documents/irql.htm |

How do I see/change the IRQ(L) of my device? -1. On windows that shows the IRQ associated with the device, not the IRQL that the OP asked for. I don't know enough about linux to be sure but I'm guessing it also shows the IRQ not IRQL. |

Best practice for laptop: sleep or shutting down -1 for saying that hybrid sleed doesn't use any battery power. It uses exactly the same amount of power as ordinary sleep, it just doesn't matter if power is interupted because the entire system state is ALSO saved to disc. |

Is it better to use a laptop on battery or on AC power? Actually the lower its charge level, the longer it will last. Assuming a constant temperature. However, laptop batteries will have some electronics in them to monitor the health of the battery, these electronics are a constant (although very small) drain on the battery. If you let it get too low then the electronics will prevent the battery from being changed because of the risk of fire. |

Is it better to use a laptop on battery or on AC power? @Mehrdad - Temperature and keeping them fully charged shorten their life. Now find a laptop that doesn't cook its battery while running. @Arjan - Windows default power settings are generally to conserve more power at the expense of performance when running on battery. However, if AC power is connected then the battery is not needed, after all, the PSU can supply enough power to charge the battery AND run the laptop. @Bruce - no more so than any other PC. They use a switchmode PSU which are normally fairly resilient to crappy power. |

Folder Permissions in Windows 7 sort of. the security tab controls ALL access to the file. The share tab places extra restriction on access to files when the access is over the network. you cant grant access to a file by only granting access to the share. |

Emulate a USB port as a USB flash drive? A lot of the A-A cables are actually just dumb cables. Normally made to enable connection of some dumb manufactures hardware that uses the wrong socket. If you are looking at buying one that stands any chance of working make sure you are careful about what you buy. |

Folder Permissions in Windows 7 You can maintain two seperate lists. Removing a user from the share tab shouldn't stop a user from accessing the folder locally, unless they are using the UNC path. |

Workgroup/Domain for a DLP software He said he had found some software but it requires a domain to operate and he wasn't sure what a domain was. I was trying to explain what it was and some other reasons that you may find having a domain benificial. I'd assumed he had the question of DLP software sorted. |
