The only real reason I want to run Windows on bare metal is so I can play World Of Tanks, but I can't really use that as a reason to get a bigger SSD from work...

Yeah, I've currently got a Win7 VM setup using qcow2 but once you install Microsoft Office, Visual Studio, etc. it still gets to be a significant size (~33GB).

But the problem here is that it's not finding the BootMgr Surely nothing will be reading the registry before the BootMgr?

I tried this the other day but I selected the option to install a new version of Windows 7 and it told me I didn't have enough room. I understand what you're saying about partition references, but why is the Windows 7 registry required to load BootMgr? Surely BootMgr is required to boot Windows 7 so the registry can be loaded, not the other way round?
