comment Installing Windows Server 2012 with a 4TB Hard Drive giving me GTP Error + deceted as 2TB
Windows 7 and later can use/see disks with 4TB. My box from which I'm writing now has one HDD of 3TB and another of 4TB. Do you see the disk on that mobo as 4TB? Also, most most most (...) probably that 'EFI' is instead UEFI because EFI is/was proprietary Intel interface whereas U(nified)EFI is open.

What if you'll have "%F" instead of %F? Also, be sure to re-read your text when you'll post and format it a little. It will be much easier to read. I did it for you, though.

comment Push cell down automatically in excel (2010) table
@DavidVandenbos: Yes, it is for 2010. In fact I used XL2010 when I wrote the answer. But it works also for older versions. It might differ only the placement of the check box which enables the Total row singe XL2003 has toolbars while 2007-2010 has ribbons. HTH

comment How do I cache slow webpages for longer?
@RedGrittyBrick: ISTM that he cannot control the entire communication link. Remember, the bottleneck can be on the remote server (which cannot be controlled by the OP - because otherwise what would be the point of his question? - and the bottleneck can be also hardware-related like a slow disk, NIC, CPU etc.) and/or any link between them (for ex. he cannot change the LAN hardware). Yes, this happens. It happened also to me. But the solution isn't to thinker with the browser's cache. See my response.

@Synetech: As I said pretty clearly I think in the body of the question, the archive is static. Hence no renames, no moves (ok, theoretically it can happen but it will be very rare).

Btw, Dennis SHA-1 isn't collision free. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sha-1 ...but for day-by-day files work is sufficient. I chose tiger for speed gain.

Thanks a lot - Following loosely your solution, I've posted a full/native Windows solution (ok, it is cross-platform actually, because hashdeep runs also on *nixes). Also, I chose not to encapsulate the commands in .bat files because the commands are fairly simple. Thanks a lot, anyway. Upvoted.

Answering: 1.) No, I cannot access the disks simultaneously. But, well, perhaps a kludge can be used. 2.) Now we have 5 (five) disks which are ok (the disks A..M in my example) but an "unknown" number of disks which needs checking. However, I estimate the number of these disks (IOW the 0..9 disks in my example) to 5-6. 3.) Yes, I want to store the db for future use. However I think (ok, I hope) that the "main cleaning" will happen only once.

@Dennis: Do you need an exact number? An estimate would be: 400-500k files taking ~ 4-5 TB
