comment Why are laptop screens sized the way they are?
A lot of laptop manufactures do not produce their own screens. They probably adopt which ever screen they can get from their vendor at the best price/quality point.

comment RAM limited to 12GB by motherboard?
If your manual indicates only 12GB, but online indicates 24GB support, you may need to update your BIOS.

comment Safe to convert OS in .uif to .iso?
If your friend created the UIF from the DVD, it could have been uncompressed and did a bit by bit copy of the DVD which could result in a much larger file. If you don't want to go through this hassle, you can download an official iso from heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/…

comment Does Heartbleed pose a risk for past HTTPS communications?
Patching OpenSSL alone should not be the only solution. The SSL Certs should also be regenerated.

comment Is it safe to browse inside from a virtualbox
Not true necessarily. Viruses that spread across networks will just as likely infect the host machine as well as other machines on the network depending on the vNIC settings.

comment Is it safe to browse inside from a virtualbox
Is your question, 'Is the host machine safe when browsing within a guest machine (VirtualBox)?'

comment Little clarity needed about: PC and Mac and Unix
Apple has come a long way and many people trust them. Their OS is solid and works well with the hardware that they sell. If you were to try and create a Hackintosh with similar parts, you may run into several issues as the OS never took into account that someone would use this kind of hardware and therefore the drivers may/may not work properly. Between the different PC manufactures, some of them take more care in their engineering and compatibility of their hardware. Others try to be first to market with new technology and stability suffers.
