comment What's the best and 'fastest' way to secure data on an external HDD?
This is the route that I would go. If you have TrueCrypt on your primary system drive and set this container with the same passphrase, you can opt to have this file auto mount whenever the computer is booted.

What encryption type did you use (Currently AES is the only supported hardware accelerated encryption)? Is AES hardware accelerated with your CPU (Not all CPUs have this instruction set)? Moved this to an answer to provide illustration.

Your original question was about the man content and less about shell command explanation. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

comment IPS attack message error when I visit a website
This means that it could just be an IP Address near yours in the range in which your ISP provides. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with you. You can contact the owner of the site you wish to visit and see if they can unblock your IP specifically.

@DanielB that is correct. Also nice to note that if they are in a group like in the image I posted above, you can click on the group name to select the whole list and then right click on one of them to hide update for all selected.

When you click on it, it should highlight the row in which case you can then right click on the item.

comment I've ported my website locally installed to Internet. Is it secure?
If the malicious person were to upload a php script and called something to randomly delete or upload files, then this could be a concern. Always make sure that you're running the latest updates of WordPress and that you're using trusted plugins. It can also be useful to run the Web Server with a different user that has limited permissions outside of the web directory.

Since you have the local IP address of your Wordpress site, you can log into the site locally instead of going through the external port which would help against the HTTPS issue.

1. If you're using WPA2, then you should be okay. 2. Yes they could. I've seen several instances of where a Wordpress site was hijacked and allowed someone to upload files to the site. Typically the most common types of breaches will be to install and use your server to host a virus.

comment Does VLC Player run on multi core machine?
This sounds like it has more to do with your hardware than the software. What CPU/GPU are you using? Also what are the sizes of the videos? Your hard drive may not be reading them fast enough.

comment Wikipedia Offline with Mac OS X 10.4 PPC?
Check out en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_download, you could build a local web server to do the indexing and searching. Not too hard with Ruby on Rails.
