You know, maybe I just have too early a version of ie11. I will have to check when I got that one. I see at techsupportalert.com/content/… stuff about ghost images and the like.

@AthomSfere - Ok, killing dwm finally got rid of this pest. Thanks for the help. I hope it doesn't return again.

@AthomSfere Yes, but if I exit Internet Explorer, this annoyance still remains. It may have been caused by IE, but this problem goes beyond IE.

@TravelingTechGuy I'll keep that in the back of my mind, but I would rather not reboot right now. The annoyance of this is not as great as the running processes I would lose if my computer were rebooted.

@TravelingTechGuy Didn't work. Even as everything else disappeared when I killed explorer.exe, it lingered and survived the process kill.

comment How can I stop having IE11 ask me if I want to save or open an .flv file?
@Kard Nails Ok I'll take a look at that and let you know if that was more what I was after. I should tell you I have tried video.js and that only allowed me to play 2 of my 6 formats. My end goal really is to avoid having to do a desktop application (which I already have for the same video formats).

Apache 2.2 I am just testing on localhost right now. I was first seeing what HTML 5 video tags would give me then I moved on to just clicking on links to see how the videos would be presented.

This is a process then that anyone who accesses that site has to go through? It does work, but I was hoping for a more out-of-the-box solution.

No. I get "Do you want to open or save <filename> (<filesize>) from <site>?" with Open Save and Cancel buttons.

No sorry that is not quite what I meant. Video files are being accessed from a web server. So web browser is the way that I want to access those .flv files. When I press Open during testing, the .flv file is opened by VLC Media Player

Yes, I just realized that. The option key was what I was after. The other part will inevitably be helpful in the future too. Thanks.
