comment computer won't turn on but plugging in ethernet lights up switch
@Col yeah the motherboard turns on with a different power supply of the same model. Is there anything I can do with the current one? Could the extension cable have fried it or would that have been a surge that fried it. The computer was on for like 5 minutes before just shutting off and not coming back on again

where did you hear about that design shortcoming? I didn't find anything from google, a lot of people are having problems with google drive not meeting their expectations, it clutters google results

the drive is being used for non-google-doc files only. they are not being updated reliably if they already exist

comment afp/smb transfers caps at 2 megabytes/sec, wireless N
having one computer on wired did help. My throughput averaged at 6 megabytes a second. which was very tolerable. The file transfer time went from a theoretical 7 hours to a theoretical 2 hours.

I haven't tried FTP or wired connection yet. I am a bit disappointed in the outcome of 802.11n, I will have to check again to see if I am using the 2.4ghz band or the 5ghz band

comment OSX make two drives appear as continuous volume
okay, so I can combine partitions across physical drives? I speculate that I'll have a slimmed down OSX partition on one of the drives, and then combine a large partition of storage on the rest of that drive, and the entire partition of the second drive. If this is how I understand it

this sort of helped but it was old. one of the comments there mentioned to open airport in the latest OSX with the alt-key pressed, shows some illuminating information

comment Is there software to write to RFID cards?
@technie007 I am contacting the company, it seems like an oversight in providing me with the link to the software. I was making sure that I just wasnt missing something obvious like some well known RFID program

comment Connect through own TOR relay, make edge node traffic unreadable
consider if that Tor node was in a cloud server instance that you controlled. Not physically close to me, yes information I sent to it would be sent before it enters Tor but what exactly would make that server stand out

comment Windows, run OS X partition in VMWare
Since I know that OSX can run in VM, this isn't the issue. One of the people I work with does it from a disk image on a nonApple laptop where the host is Windows. I just need to know how to do it from a partition on the HDD.
