comment What Mac OS tool do you use to generate random passwords for logins?
Interesting resource. However, if you're concerned about security, one should avoid using an online tool to generate passwords. Even if you trust this site 100%, HTTPS isn't 100% safe, nor is DNS. Who knows, someone could poison DNS to take you to a replica of this page–complete with an SSL cert.–and be databasing all your input. For really secure passwords, use diceware: world.std.com/~reinhold/diceware.html

comment Textmate single quotes autoclosure
I am also confident that I was able to auto-complete single-quotes before my update to Lion, but alas, upon reading the OP's question, I tried it and it didn't work. Then, in reading this, I was able to add ( "'", "'" ), to the first line of smartTypingPairs and it works perfectly again. Thanks, @slhck!

Does Snow Leopard run PPC binaries? I thought Leopard was the last one to do that? I could be wrong.

@Mark, the OP is looking for a strategy, not necessarily products.

It is one of the options for MobileMe–soon to be iCloud–which is handy, because it can sync all your passwords to your various devices. It is also backed-up with TimeMachine. If you want to back it up manually, see this: support.apple.com/kb/ht2980#key

comment Leaving your WiFi public?
Thanks, but I know this. The trouble is, not everyone in my household knows this, nor, does every device support it. And, people on my network may use services other than Facebook (imagine that), many of which may not allow SSL. THIS VERY SITE, for example!

comment OS X 10.6: sub-pixel antialiasing
Strange. My is on, and it works, but if I turn it off, it is still there. Perhaps this is a setting that takes affect after you logout and back into your account? You hadn't stated so, but perhaps just logging out of your account then back in will fix it?

It would probably help if you stated your OS.
