How do I physically prevent people from unplugging an Ethernet cable? @Sirex - I'd say this was still a good solution. How many people carry a set of alan keys everywhere with them? And the chances are if someone would be that meticulous, they probably have the 'nouse' about them not to damage ethernet ports when plugging/unplugging cables. |

Computer randomly turning off after BIOS update? Hi Michael, I haven't had the problem when in the BIOS setup or using Q-Flash, but haven't spent a great deal of time in there. Will let it sit there for a while and report back. Thanks. |

Computer randomly turning off after BIOS update? Will update the question with progress, or answer it myself with steps taken if the issue is resolved. This kind of issue seems to be fairly widespread, though a solution isn't. |

Computer randomly turning off after BIOS update? Hi Dave, GPU does not require 6-pin (or any other) power, just PCI-e. IIRC the PSU is 500w, which by my calculations should be more than sufficient. It was a cheap PSU though. I've been doing more googling and it looks like someone was having similar issues that were resolved by fiddling with AMD's Cool n Quiet setting in the BIOS and the Windows power plan, so that will be my first point of call when I can get back in front of the computer. |

Why would you ever want to use tape instead of a HDD? Agree entirely, I'm surprised tapes have made it this far! |

Reinstall windows legally - HP laptop I wasn't aware it was illegal to download a plain old .iso of the original installation disk, provided you're using the valid license key you bought with your laptop, why should they care? Dell published links to download all versions directly. en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/w/microsoft_os/… |

Synergy in Ubuntu not recognizing computer name change That works great, but still doesn't explain why other PC's on the network can't resolve my new hostname. |

Git - List all files currently under source control? Thanks slhck, exactly what I was after - and useful to know about the second one too. Will mark as correct in 5 and a half minutes when I'm allowed. :-) |

Synergy in Ubuntu not recognizing computer name change Hi there, thanks but like I said in my question, I've already changed the name there and in /etc/hostname. Being logged in as the root user didn't make a difference. Thanks anyway. |

Synergy in Ubuntu not recognizing computer name change My Ubuntu machine is a Synergy client (not server), I can't see anywhere I would set the computer name in the client settings. On my Synergy server if I set it to expect the new name, it will not connect. Set it to the old name and it connects straight away. |
