comment Mount part of a dd image as a truecrypt volume
Yeah sorry it's been broken for some time, it is now redirected to a summary of the lost article.

comment Encrypted remote filesystem with concurrent access - is it possible?
Only problem with that is that incremental diffs aren't going to be effective because of the Avalanche Effect.

comment Windows SSH client that allows hostkey via command line?
I started using it instead of PuTTY because changing tabs in Vim using the Ctrl + PgUp/PgDown shortcut doesn't work in PuTTY (as mentioned on that link).

In fact the mintty site says it's based on the non-networking parts of PuTTY's code and improves on PuTTY issues: code.google.com/p/mintty/wiki/PuttyIssues

comment Automating tasks in Windows 7
This is a great resource for using 7zip from the command line: dotnetperls.com/7-zip-examples You should be able to just run eg. path_to_firefox.exe <filename>.

I very much doubt they would build in something like that, any attacker worth his salt would just remove such a limitation from the source code of Truecrypt and try again. Plus it wouldn't be a lot of use to try and brute force AES volumes with decent passphrases.

Okay I didn't know about losetup before! I have tried using losetup to create a loop device with the specified offset into the file, but truecrypt still doesn't seem to like it: "Partition Device Required"
