comment How can my macbook be able to ping google but not my router?
Yeah, if pathping reddit.com does not show your router after your host, ICMP is most probably disabled on your router.

@NetworkKingPin I doubt that, as Whatsapp requires you to have a phone number.

@Ramhound You comment is irrelevant to the question, which is specifically asking about mSATA > IDE converters.

comment Windows 7 and cd to symbolic links
@Piskvor Yeah sure, but there is no point in using it, as it cannot make symbolic links, so has less functionality than mklink, which is installed by default.

comment Would adding 2 extra ssd's to raid 0 make a difference in speed?
@Ramhound Software RAID 5 is horrible and not worth it. Even hardware RAID 5 is not worth it. RAID 10 if anything, with 4 disks.

It would need to be elevated too, for commands like that.

comment NVMe drives and compatibility
@Ramhound "..where as AHCI is limited to SATA." That's wrong and also implies that all PCIe SSDs use NVMe, which is also incorrect.

comment Two RAM sticks into a four DIMM slot motherboard… which slots?
The different colour slots are there specifically to answer this question.

comment NVMe drives and compatibility
@Ramhound This is (partially) incorrect. There are many PCIe SSDs that use AHCI and this is what you will need for even many of the latest Skylake machines, although NVMe is specifically designed for SSDs and PCIe and will become more dominant.

comment Why is straight-on viewing of inexpensive LCD screens no longer the best angle?
@RockPaperLizard On non-touch monitors, it is easy to see if it is TN or IPS by pressing on the screen with your finger. IPS screens do not distort in the way TN screens do, but this test obviously would not work on a touch screen tablet. (Also, it seems that some TN screens distort more than others, as the [hi-res] TN screen on this ThinkPad T410 does not distort easily.)

@RockPaperLizard That is the nature of cheap TN screens I'm afraid.. I'm using a TN screen on a ThinkPad T410 and it is much better than others I have used, with regard to viewing angles, but still not anything as good as my X220 or Dell Ultrasharp desktop monitors. TVs are always IPS, for the viewing angles.

Yes, LED backlighting has nothing to do with this issue. Look into TN LCD screen technology, which is cheap, versus something like IPS screens, which have much larger viewing angles. tnpanel.com/tn-vs-ips-va
