comment What does 1080p mean in laptop resolution?
@TomWijsman It's actually a known fact. There was a lot of discussion about it when Lenovo moved ThinkPads from 16:10 to 16:9 screens, three generations ago, with a lot of people being very unhappy about it. Shortage of high-resolution 16:10 screens for certain models, making them hard to get hold of, forced the change.

@TomWijsman The lower unit cost due to economies of scale of manufacturing TV screens has forced laptop manufacturers to move to 16:9 aspect ratio over the last three years or so, with only Apple buying in the quantities to allow it to stick with 16:10.

comment What is this Recovery Partition for on a fresh installation of Windows 10?
Now I am wondering if the recovery partition gets added a second time after installing a second instance of Windows 10, in another partition, on the same disk.

Well, that explains everything, and more. Cheers. You should copy this answer as a tag wiki or something, if there was a suitable tag.

@Ramhound Maybe you should edit my answer on the linked page to include that extra information, as I am not sure what you are referring to.

comment Would ARM-compiled PortableApps work on Windows 8.1 RT?
@Ramhound I think saying that Windows RT cannot run Windows API (WinAPI) software and can only run WinRT software is more correct.

comment No-IP: I can not access computer port 80, redirected to router login page instead
Have you got port 80 on the host you want to access forwarded to the router? You can only have one host accessible at port 80 (or any port). You will have to forward to different ports to access any other hosts, using something like http://yourdomain.com:8080.

@Ramhound Yeah, I know what it is and it seems feasible that this partition contains WinRE, so I'm sure you're right; I'm just confused about not remembering this partition being made, for nearly a decade since first using Vista. So either you are wrong (about it always being there since Vista) or I have a serious memory lapse, although I am returning to Windows after a couple of years away.

No, this is a fresh installation that I made myself. Of course Windows 10 is not yet available on OEM systems.

@Ramhound Are you sure WinRE had its own partition since Vista, on fresh installations? I surely would have noticed this before if that was the case.
