comment Flashing LEDs on 101-key Unicomp PS/2 keyboard
Almost flawless. This solves the boot problem, but introduces a number of other problems. If I type certain keystrokes too quickly (over 110 wpm), then keys are dropped. I may have to get a USB version of the keyboard. "In response to these [power draw] complaints, Unicomp added USB models to their lineup."

+1 for the nice use of grep.

comment Create shortcut key to insert new row using Excel 2010
F4 is pretty close; the problem is that the functionality of F4 changes depending on the last command, so I'd have to remember to perform Alt+I R first. I was looking for a command key (like Ctrl+S) that "just works."

For example, hold down Ctrl+Shift and type J as often as needed; it's very fast.

Yes, those work, but I'm looking for a single shortcut, not two shortcuts in combination.

The Alt-I R is slower than Ctrl+Shift+J because there is a key release that must happen first. The Alt-Number might work; I have a funny feeling it would prompt for the number of rows to enter, though.

Can you not combine the PDF files into a single PDF after converting them from EPS to PDF?

comment Create new folder for new sender name and move message into new folder
Thank you for the pointers. If only it were that simple. The instructions for creating a new mail event are not wholly comprehensive (e.g., the instructions assume knowledge of how to use ThisOutlookSession).

comment How to make SUBST mapping persistent across reboots?
Joey: That solution doesn't seem to work under Windows 7. When running an application with Administrative privileges, the substituted drive is not visible to the application.

comment Is it possible to set a style to show line continuations in Microsoft Word?
There is a way to convert source code to images. This way if the source code changes, you can regenerate the image that Word uses. This saves you from duplicated code. See also: superuser.com/questions/213217/convert-html-to-image

comment Convert HTML to image
OpenOffice really isn't a solution. It is slow, buggy, has a vast amount of overhead (i.e., Java), and takes longer to install than wkhtmltoimage. Also, your solution is theoretical. If you create a working batch file that exactly reproduces the results of src2png.bat as given in the correct answer (with transparent background images) and converts HTML in less time than using wkhtmltoimage while being a fully automatic solution, I encourage you to post your results as an alternative. Also, what would be the advantage of replacing wkhtmltoimage with OpenOffice?

@Dennis: Could not remove the echo command: it was necessary for validation.

comment Rename sets of files based on size
@Dennis: Ah! I was redirecting the output from this script to another script and then running the generated script, rather than removing the echo command to activate the mv command. I could not remove the echo prefix because I need to verify that the file names align correctly. (Two different encoders [the first time I ripped the CDs] produce two slightly different FLAC file sizes [the second time the CDs were ripped].)

comment Rename sets of files based on size
@Dennis: Try: mv pop pop(2). The result is: bash: syntax error near unexpected token (. It must be: mv pop pop\(2\) or perhaps mv "pop" "pop(2)". If the echo line was echo mv "\"$f\"" "\"$idx-$original\"", I think that would work. But it truly is academic at this point. I've converted all the file names. ;-)
