comment Should one keep their old graphics card installed in addition to their new?
@WesleyDavid, that is exactly what he is suggestion. SLI traditionally only supported one monitor total for the two cards. the dual monitor thing is recent.

comment Is a file system just the layout of folders?
FYI, There is no "Linux filesystem". What the book meant to say is the linux directory tree. And, yes, the directory tree is just the layout of the folders.

comment Leave xterm open after task is complete
There has to be something running or the terminal will close. I am pretty sure thats just how it works.

The problems is that there is no shell running in the xterm for it to go back to when the tests are done. I imagine there is a way to get bash to execute RunMyTests and remain open afterwards, but I can't find it off hand. Hrm.

comment Is chaining two switches different than connecting both switches directly to the router?
@billc.cn, They often will not show up in ifconfig until you configure them to be. Thats not a surefire test.

If it's just for your personal use Dynamic DNS service will work just fine. I like freedns.afraid.org

comment Overclocking GPU
I agree with everything, but It's really not that dangerous assuming you don't change voltages. The worst you can do is temporally compromise the stability of your chip.

Yeah, I agree. I just think that it would be better answered there. I removed the line.

@artistoex, but simply doubling the transistors doesn't make it faster either. It needs to be engineered in a way that will take advantage of those transistors. More transistors (with the same mm) means a lower clock typically.

comment Selecting a quiet ATX PSU
Running a PSU at about halfish load allows for better efficiency as well. Since I would guess you need about ~330-360W (my educated guess), I would go with a 650W.

comment What do the numbers 240 and 360 mean when downloading video? How can I tell which video is more compressed?
If all other factors are the same, a file with a better codec will be better than that of a worse codec.

Sorry for being unclear. As I said, you want to balance/maximize each of the criteria. You can't simply look for the largest file or best codec for the reasons listed.

comment What are hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys files, and can I safely delete them?
I wouldn't remove the pagefile in Windows 7. In my experience, this leads to strange behavior. However, If you have a exorbitant amount of memory, you may try it. [This is converse from Windows XP where removing the pagefile if you had over 1GB of ram worked perfectly fine]

Yes thats the case, but don't disable the functionality. It's a huge power saver.
