comment Is overclocking legal?
Actually, it's not because it's cheaper to make the higher-end component in bulk.. it's because it's impossible not to. What's the difference between the lower clocked and higher clocked? The design is the same. The chip is the same; how would they go about making it slower without changing the design(expensive)? Heck if I know.

@music2myear, I in no way implied that I disagreed with their actions or believed that they shouldn't be able to do so.

They also have this habit of wanting people to pay more for their performance :)

comment Which of the Windows updates are really necessary?
I'd say it depends on what necessary means. If it's not necessary that your system is free of known security holes than I'd say almost known of them are required.

comment Why are some 2.5 USB boxes limited to some specific capacity?
Likely just a marketing thing. To ensure consumers that their enclosure can take "any" capacity they put the largest size drive in existence at that time. Now, why it says "max capacity" was probably a telephone game thing.

comment How do I upload huge files across the internet without using P2P?
Yes, this is not a question for us.. it's for the IT department of your company. There are dozens of ways to do this (FTP, SFTP, SCP, rsync), but the IT department will be the one to decide which one needs to be done.

comment How do I remove a file in Linux whose name looks like it's ONLY a hyphen, as in “-”
did rm -i * not work? Seems like it would do the same thing as the perl script.

fyi, zipping from a pipe also produces a file with the same name.. although I don't recall it being difficult to delete.

comment Why is there a Ethernet Controller boot option in my BIOS?
FYI, Netbooting isn't local to corporate networks. It's very sexy to boot up a computer to a Linux Live CD simply by hooking it into a special ethernet cable =)

It seems like the real correct answer is "Windows XP"..

comment Is it possible to find a printer's physical location in a building by its IP adress?
Maybe.. Now that I think about it, there are better ways of doing it. Now, with 200+ computers? not likely.

It's unlikely that you'll have more than one router in a school. Even my university had one router that all academic/residential related connections went though.

It would be nice to know what API autoit is using internally..
