With sudo you are supposed to use myNormalUser's password.

comment .bash_profile statements get executed twice
Do you have any other rc files like bashrc that source bash_profile? I don't think it would do anything but try removing the -i from your target.

comment How to cd to a newly created dir?
You left out the all important quotes around the regex when you put it in. Put the double quotes back in like they are in mine and see if it works that way.

I can ping google just fine - maybe ping is blocked somewhere closer to your local network?

FYI ` is a "backtick", not tilde. ~ is a tilde.

I'd be interested in seeing the solution if you find one. I'm out of ideas myself atm.

comment permanent fix for gtk-window-decorator --replace
It would help if you told people what window manager or desktop environment you are using and possibly what OS.

comment Count the occurences of a list of words in files
After reading John's answer I realized that both his and my original answers only count line frequencies so if a word appears multiple times in a line the count would be incorrect. My updated answer has the following changes: use sed to split input files one word per line and add -w option to grep so for example Range in words.txt will not match Ranger.
