It turned out that this method would actually work, if the source files were not corrupted... Thank you

@FarmBoy, apologies, it would seem my memories go far too far back. I've updated the answer for Windows XP and newer.

comment How “legal” is site-scraping using cURL?
IMDB are welcome to request whatever they wish, and you are free to comply with their wishes if you like. But legally, they don't have a leg to stand on. Go ahead a scrape their site.

@musicfreak your screwdriver is just as legal, unless the person making the product is a legal authority in your jurisdiction. Don't forget, your interaction with manufacturers of products and publishers of websites is governed only by applicable laws, and you are essentially never going to be entering a legally enforceable contract with a website (or screw containing product) which will supersede your normal rights.

First and foremost, it depends on your legal jurisdiction. There is a tendency on English language web sites to assume a US jurisdiction, but copyright varies a lot in other countries. I doubt US export restrictions apply to this question, unless you're exporting cURL as a US citizen you have nothing to worry about. Also, music is no different to text, images or anything else published online. Any kind of media can be published online by people without permission from the copyright holder - in which case you may be infringing their copyright by downloading it.

If the two machines are on the same local network, the sync will happen over the network only (and it will be much faster)
