comment What is the value of MD5 checksums if the MD5 hash itself could potentially also have been manipulated?
MD5 is in fact blatantly broken against malicious changes assuming the original file was prepared for it.

comment Is there any difference between computer speakers and a hi-fi?
hi-fi stands for high fidelity, that should give a hint. hi-fi generally ensure a good minimally-distorted frequency response while computer speakers may not

comment Why are Ethernet/MAC addresses needed?
@kinokijuf which is the entire point of layer 2, abstract out the specifics, most details in layer 1 & 2 are linked to hardware anyway and better solved by micro controllers these days

comment Do two computers connected on the same Wi-Fi have the same IP address?
no MAC is lower level than IP, and it doesn't leave the network (messages from outside use your router's MAC), a NAT box essentially is a MitM that looks at each TCP connection that an internal pc wants to make and makes its own connection and forwards its incoming messages.

comment Do two computers connected on the same Wi-Fi have the same IP address?
it is possible that the wirless router doesn't do NAT, for example a internal accesspoint in a business office where the NAT box is elsewhere

sometimes alt+tabbing away and back to get focus on the window, doesn't work everywhere though
