comment Why Ethernet/MAC addresses are needed?
@kinokijuf which is the entire point of layer 2, abstract out the specifics, most details in layer 1 & 2 are linked to hardware anyway and better solved by micro controllers these days

comment Do two computers connected on the same Wi-Fi have the same IP address?
no MAC is lower level than IP, and it doesn't leave the network (messages from outside use your router's MAC), a NAT box essentially is a MitM that looks at each TCP connection that an internal pc wants to make and makes its own connection and forwards its incoming messages.

it is possible that the wirless router doesn't do NAT, for example a internal accesspoint in a business office where the NAT box is elsewhere

sometimes alt+tabbing away and back to get focus on the window, doesn't work everywhere though

comment What is the purpose of using a large ping packet?
@paul one way communication can be handy for spyware (for example key loggers sending the logged data)

comment How can I force a cmd.exe prompt error message to not close?
you can use the /D switch to switch drive letters with cd so cd /D C:\Tools will always go to the directory no matter where you are currently
