I use robocopy from a batch file but need to schedule it using the Windows task scheduler.

comment IE8 will not load certain sites
Also, try the issue on a completely different computer (or more than 1) that also has IE8. That should rule out a configuration problem that only exists on a certain computer.

If you can't figure it out, you can always use the FTP subsystem built into the SSHD daemon, which I know works out-of-the-box. Just SFTP to port 22.

comment How to create a FTP Server on Ubuntu 10.04?
vsftpd is unnecessary though if you already have the SSHD daemon enabled. I wouldn't use vsftpd unless i first determine that the SSHD FTP subsystem insn't enough.

This is certainly the best option if you don't need fine grained account control. SSHD 5.x+ has the FTP subsystem included.

I did the Win8 upgrade and it backed up my old windows directory and all my previously installed programs worked just fine and all items in program menu were retained. After install, i recommend installing a program called "Soluto".

comment IE9 websites won't load on Windows 7
Toggling compat mode wont work. If the sites main HTML page has the "HTML4" declaration header in it, then it forces the browser into "Quirks mode", which is the same as being IN compat mode: the equivilant of IE5.5. mode, even if you set it to not be in compat mode.

comment SSD Drive - external vs Internal
In my experience, eSATA usually cannot go any faster than 1st generation USB3 (around 20-30 MB/s). The reason being that the eSATA is probably not connected through the system bus in the same way that internal SATA is connected. eSATA has the benefit of the command queueing like USB3, but not optimized, IMHO. I could be wrong.

You certainly would want to use USB3 instead of USB2, which the newer i5 laptops have, but even that 1st gen USB3 is too slow. What you really need is 2nd gen USB3.0, which is the only thing fast enough to keep up with an SSD, and there are not ANY laptops that have 2nd gen USB3 yet.

comment Linux Mint is rebooting while screen is locked, how do I go about debugging/fixing it?
Maybe when it goes into power save it tries to load config to RAM and there is a bad stick of RAM in the computer?
