Titled as a Network Engineer, but my minor is in Software Engineering. I've used a myriad of computing platforms to include Linux, UNIX, Mac, PC, Commodore, Amiga, and 286/386/486s. My choice of everyday machines is Mac because it offers a good balance between UNIX power and Windows usability. I am NOT an Apple fanboy. Bottom line, I use Adobe software and refuse to run a Windows environment. Mac is the best balance between the two to accomplish my goals.

Server side, all Linux/UNIX. In my mind it can be beat for performance, scalability, and security.

While I agree, the vendor docs allude to the same method if you're having problems. Also there is the "use" directive that you can look into. win32.perl.org/wiki/index.php?title=Strawberry_Perl Though most of this is aimed at having multiple installs of Perl on your box. When in doubt, its Windows, try a reboot.

This is a relatively interesting facet. Presumably, FreeDOS is still installed? If so it is likely that it is resident on this 900M partition. If FreeDOS isn't still installed, I'm at a loss on this. Either way, it won't affect your end goal of instlaling Linux.
