comment Connecting headphones amplifier with two soundcards
Hm thanks, I thought I should use TPTT, but yeah, DPDT should work because I don't need to switch ground. Thanks, I'll figure out something ;)

@BJ292: One is better (PCI) and works only in windows, other (on-board) is lower quality and works both in windows and linux. The thing is I prefer lower quality over no sound, so I use on-board sound card in linux and better (PCI) sound card in windows :)

Yeah, as I thought, it's not so safe :D Is there any way to check if unused card sets it's impedance to high? I would buy a switch, but they are super expansive for something so simple (like $25 on ebay, but it only contains 2 inputs, one output and a switch ...)

Thanks, but I already knew how to connect them like that. I'm just not sure if connecting them like that will cause any damage to sound cards, because technically it would be as if I am connecting output of one sound card into another.

@paradroid: Yeah, the problem is +12V rail ... I will get that card today and try it out with one PSU, so I'll see if it will work normally with one PSU. If not, I don't know yet what I will do.

That's currently not an option (insufficient founds :D)

OK, thanks :) But I'm concerned with consequences of connecting ground of both PSUs together, and the graphics card being powered by two PSUs (one from motherboard and another via 6 pin connector)

I've checked with PSU calculator, and recommended PSU wattage is about 400W. The problem is that PSU that I own is really old (approximately 3-5 years) and it wan't made by known brand, so even when it was bought maybe it wasn't really 400W PSU.

@clabacchio: I don't think so ... I am concerned primarily with electrical problems that I can experience if I use both PSUs and I think that I can get the best answer on this site.
