comment How to fix emacs popup dialogs on Mac OS X?
@DustinGetz, that's a completely different problem underneath. You can fix that by unbinding the particular key, e.g. (global-set-key "\M-t" nil)

comment How to show line number common to more files in emacs?
Using that command I still get correct, i.e. local, line numbers and TeX-next-error has no problem finding the error.

comment Close an emacs frame and have all the open buffers migrate to another frame
All buffers are accessible in all frames. If that's not the case, perhaps you have different instances of Emacs running. In that case consider using emacs --daemon together with emacsclient.

Are you on a Mac? IIUC there are some problems with subprocess on Emacs for OS X. This makes flyspell very painful for example.

You can (and should) use emacsclient if you want to use emacs in another terminal window. Then you'll be running the same emacs session in both terminals and copy/paste will work correctly.
