comment calculate time differences in excel 2003
@Arjan - The format was copied/pasted from the Excel cell format dialog. You can paste it back into the Excel format cells dialog box (Format cells/number tab/Custom option) to see the result. I did test it successfully using Excel 2003 SP3. I did have a little trouble pasting it into my answer; paste as code snippet seemed to work best. Regards, Kije.

comment Convert Outlook .ost file to .pst
Is it more difficult that logging in to the ex-user mail account? - and if it is de-activated, then having it re-activated by your service provider? Or at least starting from the backup that you have?

comment What is a good backup strategy for home?
Doh - Raid1 - two disks that are mirrored. I tried to address the point about Raid not being the same as a backup by noting that I periodically swap out one drive out for a blank. That gives me as many backups as hard drives I am prepared to pay for.

comment Excel sheet - automatic formatting
(Continued...) The limiting factor is the number colors you want, not the number of distinct values you wish to use to choose the colors.

comment Excel sheet - automatic formatting
Using conditional Formatting, you certainly CAN format all the cells in a row based on the value of ONE cell in that row without any VBA programming. The example given shows only three colors being used (blue, yellow and no-color). Conditional Formatting in XL 2003 can handle three colors plus no-color, and there some wiggle room for additional formatting colors above that. I do not know if that has been expanded in XL-2007.

That is right - hence the suggestion to save as "Read Only" which will force a "Save as"

@SirLancelot - Um - I didn't know about it. When I tried it, it did work, but forces the bookmark into the bookmarks root folder - way too cluttered in there.

comment Recovering password of an Excel spreadsheet file
You are out of luck. All you can do is try to guess the password. If you created the password, try variations with CapsLock on/off, or of mispellings of the passwords.

comment Looking for a email program, where the emails can be stored on a network drive
More input rather than answer ... . I use Outlook, and sometimes outlook express. With Outlook I keep the current mail folder local and small, and archive mail after a couple of weeks. . I keep the archive on a small Netgear ReadyNas *, and have never had a problem with write errors - though I have had problems with other applications. * netgear.com/Products/Storage/ReadyNASDuo.aspx
