comment Why does Windows 7 assume there is a new network connection when connecting to an existing access point?
It depends on the router: my NetGear router NEVER hands out the same IP, no matter what the original lease period was. Every 5-min sleep will result in a new IP for the computer. And the lease period is not configurable.

comment How does one determine the maximum resolution supported by a graphics card or integrated chipset?
That command gives me a nice little list of resolutions, limited it seems by the maximum horiz. and vert. resolutions of the currently attached monitor, but by no means the output capabilities of the graphics hardware/driver.

comment Why won't USB Plug & Play work?
You say the devices are not recognized: what exactly do you mean by that? If the devices show up in Device Manager, that pretty much contradicts that assertion!

comment Why can't I edit this XML file? Is it encrypted?
Just because someone stuck an ".xml" at the end of a filename, does not mean it is any such thing.

comment How to block access to certain websites without additional programs?
You asked how to block connections by IP address, but evidently that is not what you meant, since you accepted the answer below, which does not pertain. Please edit your question accordingly.
