Murphy's law started out as an "If something is created in a way such that it can be connected up wrong, it will be connected up wrong." Sensors on a suit that was to be worn while the wearer was subjected to high G forces on a rocket sled. The sled run produced no results. The connectors for the sensors were not polarized. ALL the sensors were hooked up backwards. We had a similar situation on the old IBM compatible AT style motherboards, the connector was two identical six pin connectors with all 4 black ground wires in the middle. If the position was switched, the board smoked.

comment What is the difference between these 2 twisted pairs?
You have to watch out on cable testers, the cheap ones will tell you that all 4 pairs are hooked up correctly, but will not detect if one of the pairs is in the proper position but with the pair reversed on one end (solid/striped connected backwards).

comment How to renew Google Chrome certificate (NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID)?
