comment Is there any way in AWS to tun off instance if bill increases certain amount
You can set up alerts to warn you if your AWS bill exceeds specific amounts. Amazon published this to describe how to do it in the console: docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudWatch/latest/DeveloperGuide/… I published the following with command line instructions: alestic.com/2013/01/aws-billing-alerts You could have the alert be sent to the instance triggering a shutdown.

comment Large volume at /mnt on AWS instance
Ephemeral storage survives reboot, but is cleared on stop/start, terminate, and instance failure. I explain more differences between reboot and stop/start here: alestic.com/2011/09/ec2-reboot-stop-start

comment What can I do to give some more love and disk space to my database on Ubuntu?
@YaronNaveh: The biggest problem is the fact that you might run out of disk space. The EBS volume has nothing to do with memory unless you have created a swap file on it.
