I have Samsung NVMe SSD 960EVO 250GB disk and it gives me some weird result when testing read speed using hdparm -tT.

Speeds before trim

You can see that the trim helped except for last partition which is actually slower, but the speed is rather good. What is not good is the speed of second partition.

Everything looks good, but the speed of partition 2 is way slower that the rest. Does anybody know why and how to fix it if it can be fixed?

    man hdparm says about -t and -T: "For meaningful results, this operation should be repeated 2-3 times on an otherwise inactive system (no other active processes)". I can see your /dev/nvme0n1p2 is mounted as /. I don't know if it may interfere but maybe you should boot from live CD and repeat your tests with none of the partitions mounted. Jun 13, 2017 at 6:23
  • I did repeated the test several times and the result vary in ~50MB/s but did not try in unmounted disk. I will try it and report back. Thanks

  • So I booted systemrescuecd and run hdparm -tT on the disk (it was not mounted) and the result were ~1780MB/s for p2 but for p1, p3 and p4 it was only about 1950MB/s, so it was actually slower that when the disk was mounted
