I amd trying to install simplescreenrecorder but it fails

simplescreenrecorder is not available in the standard CentOS repos. You can get it from li.nux.ro.

# yum install epel-release
# rpm -Uvh http://li.nux.ro/download/nux/dextop/el7/x86_64/nux-dextop-release-0-5.el7.nux.noarch.rpm

then

# yum install simplescreenrecorder

Is this CentOS 7 or 6?

You have to install EPEL from a separate Repository.

Script Save As -> simplescreenrecorder.sh using nano or vi command To Run in your Present working Directory type

sh simplescreenrecorder.sh

This will execute your Script / GitHub Is good as well to save scripts. Or USB Key in a jewelry box in a safe.

Present Working Directory

pwd

cd /tmp

Always verify the link to download use lynx

yum -y install lynx
