I'm installing Xcode from Mac App Store but sadly fails every time near finish with

Xcode failed to download

Use the Purchases page to try again.

Except once that I copied pkg inside $TMPDIR../C/com.apple.appstore/497799835 before the App Store application auto deletes them while popping up an error dialog.

And the pkg is installable. I've successfully installed Xcode by the copied pkg before.

What I found is the space of the downloaded and just deleted pkg wouldn't release until I click OK button of the download failed dialog.

As I couldn't figure out why "Xcode failed to download" continues. And just got an error(again and again) after long time download is too sad.

I'm wondering is there something I can do to recover the auto deleted file the space released?

  • @NetworkKingPin it's in the temp folder $TMPDIR/../C/com.apple.appstore/497799835 – Al3n Mar 1 '16 at 9:37
  • So did you grab the file you wanted before it was deleted? – NetworkKingPin Mar 1 '16 at 9:42
  • @NetworkKingPin Once before(maybe with a different error message). The download was finished and not deleted before I confirmed the error message. But this time the downloaded files was deleted just on it finished downloading. I have not change to save the downloaded files manually. – Al3n Mar 1 '16 at 10:57
