I have several columns of data of differing lengths, adjacent to each cell in each column I want to perform the same formula for the relevant adjacent cell. The formula is identical for each case, just with a different relative cell. Is there any way I can have one parent cell that automatically feeds the function to the relevant place when the function is changed, so I don't have to copy the function to each column, then fill down each column?

Here is what I am looking for:

A B C D
------------------------
1 F(A1) 1 F(C1)
2 F(A2) 2 F(C2)
3 F(A3) 3 F(C3)
4 F(A4)
5 F(A5)
  • Yeah you can use an if but you'll still need to put the formula in. If you're doing it with VBA it's worksheet_change(byval target as range) - give it a shot – Raystafarian Mar 15 '16 at 13:09
  • No need for VBA, use a named range. – Kyle Mar 15 '16 at 14:36
