So my laptop just died. Motherboard issues. A friend gave me an old Dell E520. I see there's one direct sata data cable attached to the motherboard. I've got two 2.5" drives I'd like to add. ( https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Momentus-7200RPM-Internal-ST9500420AS-Bare/dp/B001R4BBLU )

Are there any form of universal brackets which the 2.5" would fit in to mount inside properly? Secondly I'm not sure the methodology about what type of data cable I'd need? I don't see multiple data cable slots right off, I've noticed splitters exist? Links to direct items on Amazon would be awesome. It's got plenty of Sata power connectors. Just need the data connector and a bracket.

  • You should not need anything, the brackets and cable should be there. – Moab Aug 15 '16 at 18:58

  • I suppose I forgot to mention. It does have a bracket. For a 3.5" HDD. Only one. Secondly the data cable only has one connector. – AlexMohr1990 Aug 15 '16 at 22:47
  • So you want to add a second hard drive? – Moab Aug 15 '16 at 22:52
  • Each hard drive has an individual Data cable and power cable, so you need a HDD bracket and Data cable? There should be an extra power cable in the case. – Moab Aug 15 '16 at 23:02
