Are there any free-download-able media players out there that supports sub-second seek/display? I wish to do a more in-depth analysis of a .avi file.

If you are more interested in frame analyzing than in playing, you might want to try VirtualDub.

Media Player Classic allows frame stepping.

I don't have my Dell in front of me but I had this problem a few weeks ago. You can right click in Windows Media Player and adjust the "seek speed" or something like that. Then you can step through frame by frame. Or download Quicktime player and use the arrow keys.

  • I think the user was thinking of the "Play Speed" settings, which are unrelated to the issue. Mar 25, 2012 at 16:15
