This question already has an answer here:

I'm currently running the most up to date version of Windows 10 and there is a program on my computer that very quickly starts causes my screen to flash black then quits before I can do anything. (This all happens in about 200ms if I were to guess). I have no idea what is causing this and think it might be a virus of some sort. I have up to date McAfee anti-virus software and this has picked nothing up.

I have tried to find some software that stops applications closing themselves to see if I can figure out what it is but have found nothing relevant.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be or what might cause this and any suggestions if you think you might know what it is on how to get rid of it.

Thanks, Josh

  • What happens when you run that program in a console? – SpiderPig May 27 '17 at 13:12
  • @SpiderPig The problem is I don't know what the program that is being run is. Like I said I think it could be a virus but I'm not totally sure. – joshbas0300 May 27 '17 at 13:16
  • Does it start by itself? – SpiderPig May 27 '17 at 13:17
  • @SpiderPig By the looks of it yes. I don't think I have any programs Installed that would run something like that. – joshbas0300 May 27 '17 at 13:19
  • When does it start. At boot? Then open the task manager and click on the autostart tab. You can also use "Process Monitor" and disable everything except for "process and thread activity". The next time that mysterious program runs, process monitor should log it. – SpiderPig May 27 '17 at 13:27
