My base system is running Windows 7 64-bit with 4GB of RAM. I am running the following VM images through Virtualbox:

  • Kali Linux 32-bit
  • Windows 7 32-bit
  • Windows XP 32-bit

These all worked great until I added a USB Wifi adapter to the Windows 7 VM. I received a BSOD with a SERVICE_EXCEPTION error and now I am unable to start any of the VMs. They all crash my base system whenever I start them. No BSOD now, system just hangs.

I have uninstalled the software and re-installed but this has not resolved the issue.

This question came from our site for users of Linux, FreeBSD and other Un*x-like operating systems.

  • do you see anything in Event Viewer on your Host machine? Also, did you remove the USB WiFi adapter physically from the host? – LSxCPU Jun 28 '17 at 16:41
