I was trying to trim and concat two videos using the command below:

ffmpeg -i nadal.mp4 -i 711.mp4 -filter_complex "[0:v]trim=0:10,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[v0]; [0:a]atrim=0:10,asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[a0]; [1:v]trim=0:5,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[v1]; [1:a]atrim=0:5,asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[v1]; [0:v]trim=15:30,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[v2]; [0:a]atrim=15:30,asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[a2]; [v0][a0][v1][a1][v2][a2]concat=n=3:v=1:a=1[outv][outa]" -map "[outv]" -map "[outa]" 1.mp4

It shows the following error (all output). What is wrong? (When I do the same for video only, it works perfectly. Looks like adding the audio causes some problems).

    You should probably use a more recent version of ffmpeg (e.g. download a static build from the website). Yours is a little old; libvo_aacenc support has been removed in ffmpeg.

  • @slhck just upgraded to 3.3. Problem solved. Tnx.

Simple typo at the end of the excerpt below.

[1:v]trim=0:5,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[v1]; [1:a]atrim=0:5,asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[v1]; should be

[1:v]trim=0:5,setpts=PTS-STARTPTS[v1]; [1:a]atrim=0:5,asetpts=PTS-STARTPTS[a1];

  • fixed that. But a new error now. Please see update.

    Add -ac 2 after the map assignments. The encoder you're using only supports upto 2 channels but the concat is exporting 6 channels.

  • That works! Tnx. Is there any easy way to update my ffmpeg? (remove previous and install latest)

  • I upgraded my ffmpeg and now your earlier solution works.
