I'm using an Android app(ES File Explorer) to access my PC's folders via my phone. To use that feature, my phone and my laptop should be in the same Wireless network. On Windows 7, I was using Connectify(3rd party hotspot app) on my laptop to create a hotspot, and Connectify already connects the laptop to newly created hotspot network. In this case, my laptop and phone being connected to the same Wi-Fi network, which has been created by laptop.

However, in Windows 10, I'm using Windows's own Wi-fi sharing(hotspot) feature, but I can't connect my laptop to that created wireless network. I mean, the laptop can't find its own wi-fi network. Because of that, I can't connect my laptop and phone to the same wi-fi and I can't use that remote file access feature on my phone .

Shortly, is there any way to connect the PC (running on Windows 10) to the Wi-Fi network which is created via PC's own hotspot app?

  • Why are you attempting to connect to your device's own hotspot network? Even if that was possible, and it isn't, it wouldn't solve the file sharing problem you describe – Ramhound Oct 17 '17 at 13:37
  • Because I need to connect 2 devices(phone and laptop) to the same wi-fi network. I don't have any wireless router, my laptop is connected to a wired network. Because of these I thought I can use hotspot network as a common point. I guess I need someone who used Connectify before and know the working principle of if. It creates a new wi-fi point and connects itself also that point. I was using file-sharing before with Connectify + Windows7. I don't want to install Connectify again if I can succeed without it. – Melih Oct 17 '17 at 17:58

If you connect your device to the hotspot created by Windows you are connected to the same network. The hotspot connects to you which every network the linked adapter is connected to. – Ramhound Oct 17 '17 at 21:18
  • Unfortunately no, if it was the case, I could see my PC on the android app's LAN devices. I need something like I'm doing on Ubuntu, I can connect my PC and phone to the same LAN with that hotspot creation: ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2014/09/… askubuntu.com/questions/318973/… – Melih Oct 18 '17 at 10:41
